Remembered

…He hast remembered His steadfast love and faithfulness… Psalm 98:3

Dear friends,

Does your heart do a jiggety-jig when someone remembers your birthday? For once, your mailbox proffers something other than bills and bank statements. It’s a nice feeling to be remembered, isn’t it? I’ve shared with you that I get all riled up when I have to go to my annual devil – I mean dental visit. If you missed my moanings, go to https://www.livewellbygrace.com/letters-blog/2018/9/10/powerful-pall.

Anyway, Torture Tuesday was coming right up when I found a small, yellow envelop in my mailbox, the address handwritten instead of a mass-mailing label. That alone made me smile inside ‘cus seems no one takes the time these days to pen intimate notes. Phone calls are taboo, and even lengthy, newsy emails are rare. Seems our personal communications have plummeted from friendly to functional. Quite regrettable.

So back to my little yellow envelop. I knew by the return address label with the cute kittens that it was from my chum Mildred. At Christmastime, she found a coupon for half-off checks and address labels at Costco. Unlike all the normal junk mail, this message was personal - written just for me. A sweet friend took the time to write me an uplifting word. The envelop unveiled more cute kittens, sleeping in a heap. (Mildred must have taken the bait and bought note cards to match her labels.) Her doddering scribble might have been difficult to decipher had I not had so much practice reading it over the years. She wrote:

Dear Gracie, I know how much you HATE going to the dentist, but remember the Lord, your God, will be with you. Stick this paper in your pocketbook and read it several times (maybe memorize?) in the coming days. He who calls you (even to tooth care) is faithful; He will do it. (1 Thes 5:24) Your forever friend, Mildred

I unfolded the Holiday Inn note paper, (Any time Mildred stays in a hotel she takes the pens and pads of paper home with her. She figures she’s paid for them.) which read:

Fear not, for I AM with you.

Be not dismayed, for I AM your God

I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Oh, that Mildred, she knows that’s my favorite go-to verse.

My point in telling you this story is two-fold:

1. You can do some powerful uplifting of your loved ones for the cost of a postage stamp, and

2. God remembers you

Psalm 98:3 says,…He hast remembered His steadfast love and faithfulness… Remember means to keep in mind. To retain. Isn’t that just somethin’ that the God Almighty always keeps his love for us in mind. He’s always attentive to His faithfulness to us. So next time you’re feelin’ blue, thinking no one cares about you, remember God’s remembering you right at that very moment. When you’re lonely, He’s the One who’s always faithful. When you’ve been praying the same prayer for a long ol’ time, He hasn’t forgotten you. He keeps your needs front-of-mind, and has promised, “No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” (Pslam 84:11) (Now that walking uprightly, that’s another letter for another time…) Don’t be worrying yourself, now. He’ll get to answering your prayer in the perfect time.

Remember, you are remembered.

Live Well,

Grace
